Obtaining an SIA Licence : Close Protection
To obtain an SIA CP qualification you will need to attend an SIA recognised CP training course and take and pass an exam.
You will require a recognised first aid award : This may be the First Aid at Work - 4 day course (HSE) or the First Person on Scene Intermediate Award - 30 hours (Edexcel / IHCD) ( Other certificated first aid courses relevant to Close Protection will be approved in due course )
If you already have formal close protection training you may be exempt from all or part of the SIA approved training.
If you hold a qualification in security or a security-related discipline which was obtained overseas you may be exempt from part of the SIA approved training.
When you apply you will need to send:
- A photograph of yourself which has been counter-signed by a suitable person
- Documents confirming your identity and age: All documents should be in your current name (unless accompanied by a deed poll document that confirms a change of name or valid adoption certificate), at least one document must show your current address and at least one must show your date of birth.
- The relevant certificate numbers of your training certificates
The SIA will undertake a criminal record check using the info you have provided.
