Obtaining an SIA Licence : Public Space Surveillance CCTV
To obtain the SIA qualification for CCTV operators you will need to attend a training course and take and pass an exam. The course may be delivered over 4 days or during weekends and/or evening sessions.
If you already have some form of UK qualification in CCTV operation it may mean that you are exempt from all or part of the SIA approved training.
If you hold a qualification in security or a security-related discipline which was obtained overseas you may be exempt from part of the SIA approved training.
When you apply you will need to send:
- A photograph of yourself which has been counter-signed by a suitable person
- Documents confirming your identity and age: All documents should be in your current name (unless accompanied by a deed poll document that confirms a change of name or valid adoption certificate), at least one document must show your current address and at least one must show your date of birth.
- The relevant certificate number of your training certificate.
The SIA will undertake a criminal record check using the info you have provided.
